Additional Comments: This car was custom made for the original owner, who was at the factory for an extended period while the car was made to his specifications. (He was a USA marketing consultant to the Porsche and Piech (VW) families.) Some of the "specs" are somewhat unique: "granatrot metallic" exterior (still pretty much flawless...new photos this spring!) with "silver green" interior. No sunroof, no cruise control. Has LSD, upgraded sound system, chassis upgrade; otherwise standard 1985 310hp 16 valve Euro features. "Federalized" end of '85; about 7k miles ago, engine was completely disassembled, re-"gasketed", and all major "should replace" (TB, WP, etc) units replaced. ($7,000 +) The interior condition is mint also. I've owned the car since November ('02), plan to keep it concours-original, with possibly polishing the disc wheels, or perhaps getting a second set of wheels, for non-all original showing and DE events. Two things strike me as really amazing, when I get in the car and fire up that deeper resonance sounding 310+ hp 16 valve engine: 1. That's slightly less than 285 c.i, naturally-aspirated, making that power. 2. EVERYthing works A-1.. (ok, so the ABS dash light stays on for no reason)... and this is an 18 year old car !! Over 100k miles, but if shined and waxed, on new "glossy tires", you could roll it onto a Porsche dealer's showroom floor, and stand back and watch the reactions of folks who are not familiar with 928s, as they start to become curious about this "new Porshe". john hammer |
