Thank you for visiting www.928Registry.org

I have been a 928 enthusiast ever since seeing my first Porsche 928 while in college during the early 1980's and have aspired to own one ever since.  As I walked out of the post office that fateful day (probably sending a letter to mom and dad asking them to send money bigbye), a 928 pulled up and stopped in front of the doors, as I walked behind it the rumble of the exhaust caught my attention.   As I turned to look..... it was love at first sight.  Probably the same day, I drove my 1976 280Z to the local dealer who had one sitting on the show room floor.  What a beautiful car!  I sat in it but didn't fit crying  (I'm 5'-17" and the early cars sit higher and with a sunroof, I had no headroom).  Nonetheless, I was so amazed by this machine, I said to my self in spite of not fitting, "I will have one of these some day............"

In 1992, that someday came and with newer style seats of the S4, I had just enough headroom.  Yee-haw!  My wife to be and I bought our first 928, an 1989 928 S4 automatic.  This was to be a very difficult and expensive lesson to learn because when I eventually did learn a little bit more about 928s, I figured out that this car had sustained heavy front end damage at some point in its short life.  In 1995 after trading this 928 back to Hendrick Imports (who knowingly sold me a previously damaged car and DID NOT tell me - I should also mention that was a long time ago and Hendrick Porsche is under new management and I respect their way of doing business very much), I set out to purchase a 928 S4 5-speed or GT armed with my new found knowledge.  This time I bought a low mileage 1989 928 S4 5-speed(#0724) that was in impeccable condition and had two previous owners.  Three years later, I bought a 1989 928 GT after seeing an ad in Autoweek from Vision Porsche in Reading, PA listing a 1989 928 S4 not knowing it was actually a 1989 928 GT.

In 1996 my interest in finding a 1989 928 GT facilitated the gathering of information about these relatively rare 928s.   My goal was to find as many of the reported 50 1989 928 GTs that were imported to North America as I could.  After buying my 1989 928 GT I kept gathering information and building the data base which currently has 57 1989 928 GTs.

Several years ago while searching for a GTS, I began to build a database of 1993 - 1995 928 GTSs.  After finding my GTS in September 2000 and selling my 1989 928 GT I kept gathering information on both models. During that time I always said some day I would build a web site and publish the information. Just before Christmas 2002 I opened the 928 Registry at: www.928Registry.org

Currently, I have all of the 422 1993 - 1995 928 GTSs imported to NA through PCNA and 57 (obviously more then the rumored 50) 1989 928 GTs. As of 01/10/2006, I have a total of 1,300+ 928s ranging in years from 1978 through the last GTS built for the North American market.

This is a not for profit web site dedicated to documenting the Porsche 928. There is no cost to individuals for registering their cars and my goal/purpose for the web site is for it to be entertaining and informative.  Entertaining for enthusiasts to see some of the really unique 928s imported over the years.  Also entertaining for those who like to see what other enthusiasts have done with their cars, not to mention there are 6,000+ pictures of the 1,300+ Porsche 928s at:
www.928Registry.org  Informative as an informal historical record of individual cars as well as model information of the various iterations of the 928 over its 17 years of production.  I have listed cars by model year and by production number. Check it out and if you're interested and currently own a 928, feel free to register your car.  Thanks again for visiting and I sincerely hope you enjoy the site and find it informative.

Chuck

I do this in my spare time(...and I have so much spare time) and pay all related expenses/costs out of  my own pocket (woe is me, huh!) because plain and simply I love the Porsche 928 and wish for it to claim its rightful place in Porsche history.  Remember, the 928 was the ONLY clean sheet of paper design in Porsche's long history until more recent models (......the early days).   If you would like to support the Registry efforts/costs please consider making a donation to help defray the costs:
