This is the first year introduction of the original 928 Grande Touring V8 Model , and presumably will become more collectible in the years ahead. I had this car thoroghly inspected by Autobahn Daytona (Daytona Beach, Fl.) after purchasing it last year. The owner, an expert on 928 Porsches, found it to be in very good condition, and recommended that I keep it for restoration. Due to other financial matters I'm having to let it go. First, as mentioned, the motor is in excellent condition. The actual millage is uncertain (odometer reading 15,000+ is unlikely, though it sat for the last 10 years prior to my ownership). The clutch & manual transmission work well. The brakes were done within the last 100 miles. Recently replaced fuel pump. Good tires. I would feel comfortable driving the car almost anyplace. It does need paint, with prep work(slight minor rust spots only along the rear window edge) and the front seats need work, but are covered. The dash is cracking, as is typical. The carpet and headliner are in excellent condition. The fuse panel on 928's oxidizes a little and periodically must be wire-brushed, which usually restores most, if not all electrical devices, which I will do in hope of restoring full dash indicator functioning. Lights & signals work fine, but the tachometer is presently not working, and might clear up. The power windows work well. Fan blower is fine, but I haven't checked the ac. Overall, mechanically good car, needing primarily cosmetic restoration. Please feel free to Email any further questions. Buyer is responsible for picking up or shipping the car, though I might be willing to work out delivery, depending on location. PAYMENT BY PAY PAL OR CERTIFIED FUNDS ONLY! DEPOSIT OF $500.00 BY PAY PAL IS REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS. FULL PAYMENT MUST BE RECIEVED WITHIN SEVEN DAYS. Thanks for viewing, Good Luck & Happy Bidding! Brief Model History: Designed in 1971 as the eventual replacement for the 911, production of the 928 was delayed until late 1977 as a 1978 model largely due to the coming fuel crisis. As such, it lays claim to the title of first front-engine, water-cooled Porsche despite the 924's introduction two years before that of the 928. As prices inflated in the late '80s and into the '90s, sales of the big Porsche fell off leading to its eventual cancellation in 1995. Only a few hundred GTSs were ever sold in North America. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Oct-29-05 at 10:54:54 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been onformed that based on the VIN, this model is USA, rather than a Euro model, as I was previously told. (Speedometer is 170mph).
